This design challenge is to upcycle clothes that I no longer use or that are damaged. Reviving the craft of hand-stitching, sewing buttons and showcasing the seams and all the process. It's a love letter to the seamstress and the art of sewing. I embrace and enhance the process more than the final piece, I sew with passion and purpose and not for the aesthetic and the beauty. I travel through the fabric with my needle until exhaustion and then I reveal the garment.
I believe sewing and especially sewing by hand is a lost art and I wanna honor it by making these outfits handmade and with all of the seams contrasting with the fabric so they are the main character. All of those details that are usually hidden on the cover of the dress are now upside down and put in the spotlight.
